Electronically Commutated (EC) Fans

Orion Fans provide energy savings for AC fan applications

Image of Orion Fans Electronically Commutated Fans Orion Fans' EC fans are powered by brushless DC motors, also known as electronically commutated motors. A DC motor can be up to 50% more efficient than an AC motor due to its inherent design that uses permanent magnets to generate a secondary magnetic field rather than copper windings. The increased efficiency of the brushless motor means that less energy is lost as heat, while more energy is turned into rotational force and, therefore, power.

Designed for continuous-use consumer and commercial applications, the EC series fans are available in 60 mm, 80 mm, 92 mm, 120 mm, 172 mm, 250 mm, and 254 mm package sizes, and are drop-in replacements for power-hungry AC fans. They offer energy savings, enabling customers to meet energy-consumption requirements from agencies like ENERGY STAR. For harsh environment and Zone 2 applications, Orion Fans offers certain EC fan models with IP68 rating and ATEX Certification. Some EC fan models are available with dual-speed functionality and universal voltage range. For custom requirements, Orion's dual-speed EC fans can be programmed at the factory to deliver even more power savings.
