It is common in the industry to constantly review BOM’s and shop/cross around for competitive pricing. A common misconception which non-RF engineers will have is to replace components governed by pricing without the insight on how the RF of the design will be affected. If performed properly, this task will require some validation and the following slides will show how replacing a lower cost BOM with a single passive will have some variations in RF response.
