This slide shows one of the important features when driving resistive loads. For example, in automotive applications such as a car seat heater, current is passed through a resistive load causing heat where one can infer that the heat dissipated is directly proportional to the current applied through the resistive load. Therefore, it is important for the eFuse driving this resistive load to ensure accurate current limit settings without exceeding the power dissipation requirements. For the NIS3071 eFuse, an external resistor RLIM or limit is used to set the currents ITH and ICB, where ICB is equal to 2 times ITH. ITH allows the load current to exceed its threshold for a short duration and can be used in applications where inrush current is expected. Once the ICB threshold is reached, the eFuse turns off to protect both the load and supply.
