The ongoing trend for power systems in handheld devices is higher efficiency with smaller size. To accomplish this, it is necessary to reduce the inductor size and the total number of components. One solution is to increase the switching frequency of the DC/DC converter. This decreases the inductance value, capacitor value and increases the transient response to load fluctuations.
