Another reference design available, the PR788, is for higher power applications such as street lighting or high bay lighting. It has a universal input voltage range, meaning that it can be used anywhere in the world and with minor adjustments, it can be made to work with 277VAC which is a common industrial lighting voltage. This design can power up to 90Watts of LEDs, has power factor correction, and is dimmable with external PWM dimming signals. The boost PFC provides an output voltage source that feeds a transition mode inverted buck converter, similar to a hysteretic control, that generates a constant current for a string of LEDs. As seen from the picture image here, it would very neatly fit the form factor of today’s CFL ballasts.
