Cicoil’s Role in the 1969 Moon Landing

Cicoil is a company that specializes in Flexible Flat Cable. They were founded in March of 1956, and by August 1956 had developed the Ribbon Cable we all know and love today. DigiKey has been a proud distributor from 2012 to present day.

Since the very beginning, Cicoil has been achieving great things. From being implemented into Boeing’s (new at the time) 707 Commercial Jet, to having a place in the world’s first 3D robotic sign in Times Square, and working with NASA for around 60 years, they have almost done it all.

One major accomplishment is their involvement in the Apollo 11 Moon Landing in 1969. This was not Cicoil’s first time in space, but it is definitely an achievement to be proud of. They developed a Biomedical Harness that was worn by the astronauts under the Intra-Vehicular Constant Wear Garment when in the spacecraft and under the Extra-Vehicular Pressure Suit when Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin became the first men to walk on the moon.

This is definitely something to celebrate, and with the 50th anniversary of the Moon Landing almost upon us, it’s time to remember this huge feat for mankind and all the people and companies involved in making it happen. Cheers to 50 years and Cicoil for helping to inspire the entire world.
