For certain LED headlight applications, multiple LED lamps are arranged on modules on different levels. Original connector solutions included using multiple wire-to-board connectors to link the modules together and to a controller unit. This required multiple assembly steps and component costs. The Molex Flexi-Latch connector system provides a more efficient alternative solution. A single FPC module containing multiple LED lamps can be linked to a controller unit using one Flexi-Latch connector. This saves component and assembly costs versus previous wire-to-board solutions that require multiple harness and header assemblies.

Traditional one-piece FPC connectors are not robust enough to guarantee FPC retention in rugged automotive environments. The Flexi-Latch system includes a durable positive inertial lock design with various cable-hold features to ensure secure electrical contact and mechanical stability. They are available in 2, 3, and 4 circuits.
