Samtec’s 1.27 mm Tiger Eye discrete wire system is designed for micro rugged, high-reliability, high-cycle applications. Tiger Eye is a multi-finger, heat-treated, beryllium copper (BeCu) contact designed for rugged environments. The superior spring properties of of BeCu make it ideal for high mating cycle applications. Once formed and hardened, the BeCu will retain its shape under a variety of conditions.
The contact mating surface is on the flat, smooth side of each finger. The smooth surface allows more mating cycles because it does not stress the plating; this provides lower contact resistance and longer plating life. A micro slot on the tail allows solder paste to penetrate the slot, wetting a larger surface area on the lead and providing greater solder joint strength. Connectors with micro tail slots tend to adhere to the wet solder paste prior to reflow better than flat leads.
This discrete wire system is available in single-row (2-50 contacts) and double-row (4-100 contacts) configurations and vertical and right-angle terminals. They are available as components or complete assemblies.
The components are TFM, TFC, SFM, SFC (board assembly), ISDF (Socket housing), TSDF (terminal housing), CC03R/CC03M (crimp contacts) and T1M44-M/T1M44-R (crimp terminals). Hand tools and bench top applicators are also available to help assemble components into complete cable assemblies.
