Amphenol SGX SensorTech 20 mm diameter Series 4 electrochemical sensors can detect toxic gases such as ammonia, carbon monoxide, ethylene oxide, hydrogen, hydrogen sulfide, nitric oxide, nitrogen dioxide, and sulfur dioxide. Electrochemical sensors detect gases by producing a chemical reaction between the gas and oxygen contained in the sensor. This reaction produces a small current, which is proportional to the concentration of the present gas. The sensor is, in effect, a type of fuel cell.
