Like all MOSFET technologies, the drive to reduce the cell pitch continues. This has two major benefits for the customer. The first is that for the same RDS(on) value users will have a smaller chip size, thereby making the end product cheaper to buy. The second benefit is that they can fit lower RDS(on) parts into the same packages, or fitting the same RDS(on) into smaller packages (due to smaller chip size), thereby enabling improvement in power density for the system/application.
