HDBaseT™ technology was launched in 2010 by Valens Semiconductor. It empowers plug-and-play digital connectivity between HD video sources and remote displays. This technology utilizes a single standard Cat 5 Ethernet cable (up to 100 m) to simultaneously carry full 1080p HD (including 3D) video, uncompressed multichannel audio, high-speed Internet, various control signals and up to 100 W of power to the devices. This all-in-one connectivity is known as 5Play™. By using a standard Cat5e cable, like the one used on computers or routers to connect to the Internet, the technology provides an affordable and customizable solution for nearly any application.
