Advantages of LDO

LDO provides simplicity to the design and requires fewer external components when compared to a switching regulator. With the linear regulation topology, it provides low noise characteristics to the output voltage. Cost is another advantage LDO has over a switching regulator with less external components and lower price per piece. ROHM offers various package options for all LDOs, including very small automotive LDO products for ADAS applications.
