The EFR32FG28 SoC dual-band solution combines a high-performance sub-GHz radio that provides long-range capabilities and a 2.4 GHz BLE radio for increased design flexibility. The Z-Wave SoC EFR32ZG28 is ideal for IoT applications in smart homes, security, multi-dwelling units, and hospitality applications. This dual-band capable device provides a better user experience for Z-Wave-enabled products. A more general-purpose MCU addition to the EFM32 portfolio is found in the PG28 which gives the 32-bit microcontroller (MCU) family a software-compatible MCU-only version of the EFR32xG28 wireless SoC platform. With firmware compatible with the EFR32xG28 family of wireless SoCs, the PG28 allows for a simplified hardware design for both connected and non-connected products by enabling a single hardware and software design for all product versions.
Silicon Labs development tools are available as explorer kits for a low-cost exploratory kits, pro kits, modular kits for software development and feature evaluation (PG28-PK2506A, xG28-PK6024A, xG28-PK6025A), and radio boards with a wireless starter kit plug-in board featuring specific SoC or module wireless devices (xG28-RB4400C, xG28-RB4401C).
