Si4x55 EZRadio®

The Si4355 and Si4455 are the next generation receiver (RX) and transceiver (TRX) in Silicon Labs’ high-performance, cost-effective EZRadio® wireless product family. Since RF products are typically complex to use and require specialized knowledge, they can be difficult to design in. The Si4x55 products have been optimized for simple configuration and ease-of-use.

Industry leading performance is maintained in the Si4x55 products through world-class standby current, superior sensitivity, high output power and excellent out-of-band performance. More feature-rich than most competitors in this class, the Si4x55 provides on-board preamble/sync word detect, CRC calculation, battery sensor and multiple packet configuration options. The Si4x55 also provides the smallest form factor for sub-GHz wireless ICs in a 3 mm x 3 mm QFN package. The Si4355 RX and Si4455 TRX are available in a common pinout that enables a single board layout for both one-way and two-way link applications.

Radio configuration has been greatly simplified with the introduction of EZConfig, a GUI-based tool that is now part of the Wireless Development Studio. EZConfig provides an intuitive interface replacing the complex manual configuration process needed for most radios. Users are able to simply select from predefined configurations that have been optimized and validated, or set up their own customized configuration. EZConfig also includes an optional configuration wizard to guide customers through the setup process and recommend settings for the end-application. Then it automatically generates the commands needed for configuration. The EZRadio product line is ideal for cost-sensitive applications and requires few external components.
