The KA8 has pins necessary to attach a crystal or ceramic resonator. The device allows the use of the ICS (internal clock source), an internal clock reference that can be boosted up by the frequency lock loop, or the option of using a crystal or ceramic resonator as the timing reference. Therefore, for an application that has a very accurate time/date requirement, a crystal can be used as the time base for the KA8 device. This opens up more application opportunities for this KA family addition in the RS08 space.
