The BH1600FVC family response graphs shown here, indicate spectral sensitivity and luminosity vs. Iout. It is important to choose a light sensor that has a spectrum sensitivity similar to the human eye because wavelengths that are not visible to the eye, such as ultraviolet light, may cause inaccurate light sensor readings. The luminosity vs. Iout graph indicates that the Iout is proportional to the luminosity. High and Low gain modes are options that the design engineer must consider for the end application. High gain mode will allow the light sensor to measure a light sample quicker, but choosing this mode will result in the output current being greater. Low gain mode has lower output current which in results lower power consumption.
