In the previous slide, High and Low gain modes were referenced. As shown here, some devices support three gain modes. High gain mode will provide an accurate light sample reading, but will also have a higher output current. Low gain mode will have a lower output current, but as a result will take a slower light sample reading. Shutdown is achieved by inputting 0 to pin GC2 and 0 to pin GC1. Shutdown mode allows the engineer to completely disable the output current, thus conserving battery power.
