LT8342 Low Iq Synchronous Step-Up Silent Switcher
Analog Devices step-up DC/DC converters feature programmable output soft-start, output power good flag, and output overvoltage lockout

The LT8342 from Analog Devices is a low IQ, synchronous step-up DC/DC converter. It features Silent Switcher® architecture and optional spread spectrum frequency modulation to minimize electromagnetic interference (EMI) emissions while delivering high efficiencies at high switching frequencies. Output short circuit protection and inrush current reduction are optional. The LT8342 integrates 40 V, 9 A power switches, operating at a switching frequency programmable between 300 kHz and 3 MHz and synchronizable to an external clock. This converter features a programmable output soft-start, output power good flag, and output overvoltage lockout.

The wide input/output voltage range, low VIN pin quiescent current in burst mode operation, and 100% duty cycle capability for the synchronous MOSFET in PassThru™ operation (VIN ≥ VOUT) make the LT8342 ideally suited for general-purpose step-up and automotive pre-boost applications. To reduce VOUT quiescent current in the feedback loop, an optional internal resistor divider (≥10 MΩ) and two pins select 21 output voltage levels.

The EVAL-LT8342-AZ evaluation board provides a proven design to evaluate the LT8342 converter, and the application circuit is configured to demonstrate optimum performance and component size. The evaluation board is configured to run at 2 MHz with a 24 V output voltage from an input voltage range of 6 V to 20 V and it delivers up to 3 A load current when VIN is 12 V. The EVAL-LT8342-AZ features an adjustable input undervoltage lockout, external clock synchronization, thermal shutdown, selectable mode of operation, input disconnect, and PassThru.
