Smart Crutch Reference Design
Renesas’ smart crutch integrates a heating element to the handle LED lighting
Renesas’ winning combination smart crutch provides auto alerts, such as GPS tracking, whether a user has fallen, heart rate, and more, via the NB-IoT module. The smart crutch integrates a heating element to the handle LED lighting. Additional features include IoT functions for auto-SOS, cloud/app monitoring, real-time positioning, track and monitoring, and other location-based services (LBS).
This reference design features a microcontroller (MCU), temperature/humidity sensor, light sensor, sensor module, and power products.
Features
- RA4M1 32-bit MCU provides rich communication and a touch sensor
- Features the ISL29035 light sensor, OB1203 sensor module, and HS3003 high precision temperature/humidity sensor
- Includes a high-efficiency charger and low quiescent current (IQ) power
- RA4M1 MCU
- Arm® Cortex®-M4 with floating point unit (FPU) offers a segment LCD controller and CTSU built on a highly efficient low power process and is supported by an open and flexible ecosystem concept
- Flexible software package (FSP) built-on FreeRTOS and is expandable to use other RTOS and middleware
- ISL9205D Li-ion battery chargers
- High-performance charger for single-cell Li-ion/polymer batteries, charge current from 50 mA to 900 mA
- ISL91127 buck-boost regulators
- High-efficiency buck-boost regulator can deliver at least 2 A continuous output current (VOUT = 3.3 V) over a battery voltage range of 2.5 V to 4.35 V.
- ISL29035 light sensors
- Integrated ambient and infrared light-to-digital converter with I2C (SMBus compatible) interface
- OB1203 sensors
- Multi-channel digital RGB/ambient light, proximity and photoplethysmography sensor
- HS3003 sensors
- Highly accurate fully calibrated relative humidity and temperature sensor
