In summary, integrating the decoupling function into power supplies allows PULS users to design redundant systems without an additional redundancy module. This integrated (built-in) redundancy feature is unique to PULS having added it into the standard CP housings. This means the size of the power supplies are identical to those of the CP10 (39mm) and CP20 (48mm) models. The slim units and the elimination of a separate redundancy module results in a space savings of more than 45%. Power supplies can be paralleled to increase the output power. For redundant applications, one extra power supply is always needed for sufficient output current in case one unit fails. PULS units are permanently set to “parallel use” mode to achieve load sharing between power supplies connected in parallel. The “parallel use” mode regulates the output voltage in such a manner that the voltage at no load is approximately 4% higher than at nominal load.
