Next, place the heat sink squarely over the component, ensuring that the fins are lined up according to the direction of the airflow in the system. Then place the spring clip within the heat sinks fin field as seen in step 5 shown here. The ends of the spring clip will fit over the “horseshoe” tab. Push the opposite end of the spring clip down over the frame clip with a small screwdriver until it fits securely onto the assembly.
